Bučovice

A project founded by descendents of Bučovice who currently reside in the United States and the United Kingdom is underway. They are raising funds to carry out much needed repair and restoration work in the Jewish cemetery in honor of the Schuller family from Bučovice.

Jewish settlement in Bučovice was first recorded in the 16th century. The Jewish cemetery was founded some time in the 17th century. The cemetery itself is a beautiful site covering approximately one acre, surrounded by a decorative stone wall. Its ceremonial building, probably from 1892 is intact, but is in disrepair.

Work will be overseen by Jaroslav Klenovsky through the Jewish Community of Brno. We are grateful for the cooperation of the United States Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad (USCPAHA). The USCPAHA is an independent agency of the Government of the United States of America, and is a 501 c3 organization, so all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
